Like mother, like daughter

On the 30th of April 1976 a baby girl was born to a strong, brave teenage mother: my mother.

She is only 16 but has had the life of someone much older, full of difficult challenges.

Her parents' divorce when she was young and needed her mother the most.

Her marriage at the age of 14 and her departure to the Netherlands. Although her father didn't approve.

Europe was taboo, his daughter would change there.

But this young teenage mother didn't want to be separated from her husband any longer and whatever the cost she would go to him.

How could she know that the saying 'like mother, like daughter' would apply to her and her new born baby.

My life started well, as child I was a daydreamer.

"Stand tall and do what you want to do",

This is what I learnt from my parents and what still keeps me going.
